Vintage Manilla Hemp Rope Nautical Farm Barn 7/8 x 138 feet

Here is a 138 ft. Length of vintage 7/8 diameter natural fiber rope, as pictured.

I don't know if it is actually hemp, or manila, or sisal, or what, but it's typical natural fiber rope. This rope was hanging in his barn.

When I stretched it out to measure the length, I used a wet rag to wipe off the years of dust. So, this rope is not exactly clean but it's respectably clean considering. It's definitely a whole lot cleaner than it was.

The diameter varies along the length by a few 64ths of an inch. At first I thought it might be 3/4" diameter, but it is more than 3/4 and less than 1", so I figure it must be a nominal 7/8.

This length was actually longer when I got it, but it had a bad spot, so I shortened it. You can see that I also whipped the ends with waxed cord. There is one small spot of damage. I show it in one listing photo. There are a few black spots of what I assume is tar. Again, nothing serious, but it's something you need to know. It has what I would describe as an old rope smell. You have to get your nose up close to get the smell.
