Rare Jacob Ney Hay Trolley & Drop Pulley, Primitive Antique Cast Iron Pat, 1879

A true Ohio barn find. A rare and very hard to find. Iron Jacob Ney Hay Trolley with drop pulley in very good condition. From my research this is a rod car and traveled on an iron rod instead of a conventional track. It has a patent date of 1879.

I know very little about trolleys, but all parts move and there are no breaks or repairs that I can see. The wood pulley does have some cracking as you would expect for an item of this age, but is very restorable. This trolley has been gently cleaned of any loose rust and debris then given a coat protectant. It looks age appropriate but clean.

Please check out the pics and send any questions that you may have. I will be happy to supply more pics if needed.

Note: A fellow Ebayer has informed me that this trolley which originally had a wooden rope pulley has been replaced with a cast iron unit at some point. Also, the bottom pulley even thought it is a Ney is for a later trolley unit. Both Trolley and pulley still are marked with a pat. Date of Dec 16, 1879. So possibly not 100% original.
