This Clover Leaf wood track hay trolley, as evidenced by the photos, is in excellent condition and has a rare feature not usually found with trolleys. The hardware store was opened by Kroner in La Crosse in 1865, the last year of the Civil War. It was located about a strong 3 wood from the Mississippi River. La Crosse is located just several hills over from where this description is being written. The wooden track trolleys were the first trolleys, forerunners to the steel track trolleys, so very old.The lettering on this Clover Leaf reads: PATD MAY 12'03. For it's advanced age, it is in outstanding condition. There are no chips, cracks, breaks or welds. The swivel and all wheels turn freely. The drop gate works smoothly. The trolley has been completely disassembled and thoroughly cleaned. The trolley weighs 26 pounds. It is 16 inches across, same in height, and 7 inches in depth.
