Antique MYERS HERSCHEL CLOVERLEAF UNLOADER HAY TROLLEY vtg. Barn farm carrier

This Cloverleaf Unloader trolley is a bit unusual in that it was made by F. Of Ashland, Ohio, (it's identical to other Cloverleaf Unloaders made by Myers), but instead of the F. Myers nameplate, it carries the nameplate of R.

Most trolleys that come into our shop require a lot of work to restore. This one, however, came out of a barn where with a very good roof, where the trolley never spent any time on the ground. Its incredible condition shows itself most obviously in the amount of original paint still on it.

This trolley and its matching drop pulley required only disassembly, cleaning, a little lube, and a light coat of oil to preserve its incredible patina. As you can see in the photos, showing both sides from various angles (with the drop pulley in its up-and-locked position as well as hanging position), this trolley was patented on May 12, 1903. It is likely 100-or-so years old. Remarkably, it still retains its original R. Everything works exactly as it should.

It is a display-quality piece that could be put right back to work and not skip a beat! It is complete with drop pulley and rope as shown in the photos. You'll be hard-pressed to ever find one like it in better shape. It rolls and displays nicely supported on a pair of common 3/4 angle iron, available at any hardware store (shown here for display purposes, not included in the sale). This was a popular hay trolley back in the first half of the 1900s -- a testament to its effectiveness and durability. Height of trolley only: 13.25. Height of trolley with drop pulley in its up and locked position: 18.5. Weight with drop pulley and rope: 25.5 pounds. Please message us if you have any questions; we love our customers!
