All of its parts move and function as they should. After meticulously cleaning and lubricating the trolley, we lightly oiled it to preserve its incredible chocolate-brown rust patina. The trolley is solid and functional, but shows a few concessions to age in the form of four small cracks in its thin upper sections, all shown in close-up photos.
The wheels that ride on the beam are no longer perfectly parallel with each other, but they still sit nicely on a wood beam as intended. You could put this old guy back to work, but at this point in this approximately 135-year-old trolley's life we recommend giving it a vacation, and using it for display only. This old-timer is a relatively rare trolley--not an easy one to find. Please message us if you have any questions; we love our customers!
